I HATE CODING!

*kicks self* *kicks LJ* *kicks self again twice as hard*

I spend all of this evening messing with coding, creating theme layers and using style to add animations to my sidebar. Animations by the wonderful cowboyhd btw. What a amazing artist and kind soul who made/changed them on my request.

I finally got it to work, all the animations to show up in the right places and then I decided that since they didn't fit inside the sidebar so I went and messed around again and LOST my pretty white layout and header *cries* Now I fear I'm going to have to start all over again making new theme layer and play with Style to get it all back.

Why did I have to mess with it!?! I'm so mad at myself. I doubt I'll get it fixed before bed. I've asked for help to fix my stupidly s2flexisquares

This is why I don't mess with my LJ coding often.

*is happy* got my layout working again! Got my tags back which I didn't notice was missing till a few minutes ago. I'll play around with this more tomorrow but for now it's bed!

I'm opening this thread for suggestions for subject matter for my artwork. You suggest a character or ship or such like and I might try to make something with it. But only in Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures and Stargate fandons. This isn't a request thread. I do have a request thread HERE

Just comment with suggestions for me - and if I think it's be a fun idea or sparks my creativity I'll start making some kind of graphics with it.

Two old DW websites from the BBC

Found a neat old Doctor Who website today. I've never seen it before, it's run my "Mickey" who over took over from Clive (guy who was obsessed with the Doctor in Rose). It has little notes, posting and photos about the Doctor in series one and tiny bit of series two. There are little games and videos that have Mickey sending you on missions in the games. It's all really cute. I don't think it's been updated since series two which is a shame. They could have added Martha and Donna sighting in the "Have you seen this man" replies, since they have quote about seeing Rose with a man who "looks like Casanova" (lol) in Rose sighting replies and mention other men who call themselves The Doctor. Also there is a message from Sarah Jane asking for any infomation on the Doctor because she wants to interview him.

There is also a UNIT website which sadly hasn't been updated. I say sadly because with Martha joining UNIT they could have done so much with it and made it so much bigger then it is. Maybe even carry on with some Martha videos and games. Made it into a big website much like Mickey's site and Sarah Jane BBC homepage.

radiantbaby posted a Martha/John prompt and it is amazing:D

radiantbaby also posted her Martha/John fanmix which goes the exact mile with romance quotes from David Tennent's many roles placed in between songs and over songs. It's really a cool idea, one I might try myself one day.

persiflage_1 has posted two interesting Nine/Martha stories and now I love the pairing:D And I love her writing, it couldn't work out better for me. Now I want to make Nine/Martha related artwork and it's all persiflage_1's fault!

I was told today I didn't win time_and_chips layout competition, I did come second and asked if I would mind if they used my banner for timenchips_ot which I've never heard of before. I'm not sure I want too. I don't know the comm plus I've had two people ask me to use the banner if it doesn't win. I don't know what to do:\

I started watching a new show called Lark Rise to Candleford which well being rather simple in it's stories is rather charming so far; I've seen three episodes. It has many famous faces and faces I seen before in small bits. Olivia Hallinan (Out of Time - Torchwood) as Lara who is central to the story. I'm not sure if it's the character or actress but she rather dull and her acting leaves something to be desired. The lovely Dawn French who I hope will one day take on another smarter but still funny character like The Vicar of Dibley again, as much as I enjoyed her in this and Jam & Jerusalem has small role. In the last episode Camille Coduri starred as charming woman from the work house. I was rather surprised she works so well in this kind of role. I can't really get Jackie Tyler out of my mind in terms of her acting. She was simply wonderful in her episode. And she looked rather pretty as well. This kind of look suits her much better then slapper like look in DW

I'm still really upset about SGA ending:( How am I going to get my Hewlett fix now?! I can only rewatch Traders so many times... Grant was great character, so different then Rodney. I've always enjoyed SGA but I don't love it the way I love SG1. With SG1 every character hooked me right away, Teal'c, Jack, Danial and Sam then later Cameron, Jonas and Vala. But with SGA Rodney hooked me and others... well I won't be broken hearted to lose one of them the way I was when Jack and Daniel left. With Sam and Woorsy(sp) added to the cast I was really looking forward to seeing how those casting changes worked. I still miss Becket but Jewel is great actress. If only I could see series four to make up my mind more. Sadly SPACE or any other Canadian channel has yet to air it. Still sad the show is going to end.

I wish LJ had a "headache" mood on it's list. I could use to so often.

book recommendations? Help please!

The library in my small town is very tiny and under 20 fantasy books and not much of other type of books. I always found my new fantasy books in my old library (which was huge for a town it's size) by looking through till one hit my fancy and that is no long a option sadly. The woman who runs the library said we will order in any book for me. Infact she wants me to order lots becuase without lots of active in the library it could be closed one day.

I was wondering if anyone has any book recommendations in mystery, fantasy or dare I say it romance. I've been burned by romance novels when I was in my early teens. The plot was almost the same in every book and really not very well written. So if you know any interesting well written ones I'd love to try them.

Are those Twilights books as good as the hype?

I've read all or most of the following authors:
Tolkien, Terry Brooks, David Eddings, Terry Pratchett, Harry Potter books, David Petersen, Neil Gaiman, and Joanne Bertin to name a few of the big names.

I dyed my hair today while my dad was at work today and he still hasn't noticed lol I only dyed it a brown because now my hair is long the ends went that horrible yellow damaged color. It's pretty close to my natural color, just tiny bit darker at the most. Funny fact I didn't choose the color, it's just a one that was in the house, my hair is now the same color as my brother's is. If I wanted to dye my hair the same color as his I wouldn't have been able to do it lol

Also I just watched Glory for the first time last night. And I remember why I don't watch war movies. I hate sad endings and allt eh death. And in this movie EVERYONE dies! Not even one man lives:( I figured that Col. Shaw won't make it and since I wasn't as emotionally involved with him it wasn't so bad. But poor Thomas had me near tears. It's a brilliant movie though.

I also remembered why I LOVE Andre Braugher. That man needs more work, he's such a good actor. Roles like this one and "Homicide: Life on the Street" are the kind of things I want to see, not Poseidon or even as much as I enjoyed it, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. The man has too much talent for movies like that.

I just found out Daniel Anthony (Clyde from SJA) is 20! Now I don't feel so weird about finding him incredibly hot. I always feel weird finding someone younger then me hot even if it's just a year younger then me and even if it's someone on tv/moives who I'll never meet. So I stay away but since he's 20 I can rejoice in in how hot he is. *grins* Yes I know I have a small mind.

Updated header with missing characters

I updated the header with the Rose and Clyde. Found some good SJA photos:D And just cleaned up a few things that bugged me. Still not sure I like the way Nine is in the header but I think that's all the "upgrades" I'm doing to this header.

Banner & Icons for And So Things Go

I'm really loving And So Things Go so I decided to make a banner and two icons for it:) Since jlrpuck posted photos of what each character looks like I've wanted to do something with them. I guess you could call it unfinished in a way because there is space to put another character in beside Rose. I couldn't think who to put in there.

I was thinking of putting Martin but in the end I decided not to since everyone looks so happy and I'm not sure Martin is would be happy or not. Peter's still pretty uneasy about him staying clean so I left him out. I can always add someone else later. Peter's hair was murder to blend since it was on a black background but I did the best I could. I know Rose isn't running around in a pink dress in the story but it's a good photo of Billie and the only one I could find that works.

Should I add anyone else in beside Rose? If so who?

New Header! And it almost has everyone

Well I made new header finally! I loved the cover of the series four DWM companion book and I had to turn it into a header for myself. I sacrificed Rose inside the TARDIS for Martha using series's three cover. I thought I could fit Rose in somewhere else but try hard as I might I couldn't find one picture that I liked that match. It's so hard to find full body photos (feet shoes included).

I got Sarah Jane, Maria and Luke in but I couldn't find (once again) a full body shot of Clyde. Actually I couldn't find on of Maria and Luke but I shoved them in behind K-9. Sarah Jane and Nine look a little out of place because the pictures are different contasts to the others but they are the best photos I could find and well the only photos that work. Jack was another person who I couldn't find a good photo that MATCHED the others. In the end I went with this one.

I've also decided that Torchwood photos shoot we have suck and don't like them! Sereis one, is weird, most of the photos are taken from a funny angle and there aren't many good ones. Series two are just weird and I can't get them to match with any Doctor Who photo shoots. The only good photos from series two are Martha's photoshoot.

Also all of Rose's photo shoot suck but series four. Really non of them makes Billie looks very pretty. She is not a ugly girl in any way so why put make up on her that takes away from her looks?

I don't know how long I'll keep this header but it's nice to change it every once in a while, get away from the series four final that hurt so much. Plus finally got the TARDIS in there! Woot!

beauty, eh - four movie reviews from The Great White North

The Dark Knight: Best superhero movie I've ever seen. Better then any of the Spiderman movies, or Superman or any of the other Batman movies including Batman Begins. I wish I could've seen the movie in IMAX. It was just amazing and going to be really hard to top. Everything, from the plot to look or the casting was just perfect. Thank you for recasting Katie Homes who's acting I can not stand!

Hellboy II: The Golden Army: Not a bad film at all. The plots abd a few lines here and there where a bit iffy at times but the plot isn't what sold me on the movie. It had the amazing visuals. The Golden Army, human vs elves battle at the start of the movie was just amazing. The look of it reminded me of Mirrormask in all the best ways. I really liked the make up on the elves. The costumes, animatronics and CGI where all breath taking. It's worth going to see just to look at. Also the fight scenes where just amazing!

I did feel David Hyde Pierce was missed, not that Doug Jones was bad or anything. I'm just like David's voice for the character better. I loved the jolly German Krauss, I wasn't sure I was going to when we first met him but he's such a laugh. I think I've fallen for ~~Prince Nuada~~ Luke Goss just a little bit. Also all the Agents that aren't from the first movie are all red shirts which bothers me just a little but not enough to put me off.

The Adventures of Bob & Doug McKenzie: Strange Brew: Saw part of this movie yesterday and I LOVED it! So funny and now I want to call people hosers when they bug me lol. I things like this, Due South, Red Green, it's so fun to laugh at yourself and your country. And it's got Shakespeare in it! Hamlet it be exact :p The best part of movie start when they showing their movie and everyone hates it "They did this on the album too!" lol

Secretary: A love story with BDSM. I watched this movie a few years ago but I just bought it a few days ago. I never really had a good understanding what BDSM was when before I watched this movie. I thought the whole thing was kind've sick. To be fair I was in early teens with no real understand of that kind of thing. Lee's story kind helped me to understand it all more and my views have changed. Also since then I've learned more about sex and all the different kinds of sex and relationship out there. It's something I'm always curious about even if I don't go in for. Anyway the movie, it's a pure love story! And I feel hard for it. Lee is such a amazing character, one of Maggie Gyllenhaal best roles. This is one of my all time favorite movies and goes on my favorite love stories list as well.

I first saw Hugh Laurie in BlackAdder when I child. He was always such a laugh and I enjoy all his characters on that show. Now to long ago I started watched a show called Jeeves and Wooster and another show called House M.d and I fell in love with him all over again. He is such a talented actor with wide range IMO good looks:D I also love his musical talents. I can't wait to see each new episode of his shows to see that exciting places he goes.

Martha Jones: Martha Jones was my first companion:D The first episode of Doctor Who I ever watched in full was Smith and Jones. The Doctor hooked me with his insane barefoot on the moon and crazy hair but Martha drew my eye. She really felt like a character whoes eyes I could watch the show through. The only thing I didn't like was the unreturned love/crush storyline but that has since been taken care of. She just a amazing character with a huge heart. She a very kind, selfless character and mature character without being overly 2D or boring. I'm really bad at explaining things like this but I love Martha through and through and can't get enough for her.

Mickey smith: Why I love Mickey Smith. Well it all starts with Noel Clarke plain and simple:D I've been a fan of Noels long before Doctor Who and when I saw him in Rose I became very interested in Mickey. Now in the early days Mickey was coward and not shown in the best light but over time he grow into a amazing character. I always felt really bad for him because of the way both Rose and the Doctor treated him which I think was unfair and no deserved. With every passing episode he's been in he's gotten better and better and more and more interesting.

naoko mori: Two words - Torchwood. Tosh.

sarah jane smith: I loved her on Doctor Who and turned on SJA and fell in love once more. I can't get enough of her. She a strong woman with a interesting life. She mature but fun, smart and creative. And makes a better good mother/friend to her gang of kids. She fearless in a lot ways and doesn't back down without good reason. I find her story to be very interesting and look forward to see more.

science fiction: I've always been interested in Sciense Fiction as long as I can remember. I blame Star Trek series. I watched all of them when I young child right through today. ST:V was one of my favorite because as young girl the idea of seeing a woman as captain excited me. It's not all Star Trek, a number of books and movies and TV shows. I just love imaginings

terry pratchett: Yet again thing from my childhood. Read on of his discworld books and I was hooked. I loved his take on the whole fantasy world filled with humor and just plain good storytelling.

Good News:

I finally got my sonic screwdriver today! Everything on it works but it is missing a small screw that holds in the batteries case. Also the clip that is there to hold down the other side of the battery case was broken by my brother when he was looking at it. But it still works but just doesn't open as easier as it possible should. I've been geeking out like ht big dork I am playing with it for the past few hours. I've also found that my cats and dogs are very interested in the buzzing sound and blue light:D I wonder what a cow would think of it...shame the herd is out in the big field for the summer...:p

Other News:

I have a horrible head ache. It's one of those 'trying to draw something beyond my skills as artist' headaches. Today headache is a fimliar one - trying to draw a person. Drawing people has always been a great weakness of mine that I haven't spend much time trying to correct. I'm no good at it so I don't bother trying. I've realized that's stupid and the only way I'm ever going to get good at it is by drawing ten million crap people till I get better. I decided to draw the Doctor because I had this silly idea for doctor who header contest in which I would draw each of the three characters I wanted in the scene I wanted since I can't find the right photos to manip when with real picture. I've all but given up on that idea since even if I drew it perfectly I don't really know how to color a hand drawn picture using photoshop.

Anyway long story short I made this which I'm very pleased with since it's the best cartoon ~~human~~ timelord I've ever drawn. My crappy scanner doesn't make it look as good as it does on paper but it's the best I can do.

The headache is also from my parents non stop fighting. Every time I look at my parents I wonder if two people could really still be in love after 20 years together. Are they just together in the end because it's what they are use too? Or because they don't want to be alone? And making each other's life horrible is better then just being on your own? Are they just unwilling to put the work in? I'm afraid my views on two people spending most of their lives together and being happy are very jaded. I hope one day I'm proven wrong in my own life and relationships. Only in books do people really live happily ever together till the day they die. Also I need to get off of this freak'n farm more often because the fighting is doing my head in and there is no escape from it here.

My brother finally gave me all of SPACED on from his computer. Series one, two and "Skip To The End" Documentary. And "Osymyso" Spaced Jam which is fun little music video type thing made by Edger Wright.

And since I finally got all this and feel it's a fan duty to share with geek love. I thought I'd let you know it's here if you want it. If anyone wants it I can slowly upload each episode for you. I say slowly because the only upload time I really have is night time so I'll upload it turn. Just to let you know I'll host it on megaupload since sendspace doesn't like me upload things as of late.

Also one more thing to share.:D I've found this song "If I only had a brain" (from the Wizard of Oz) that John Barrowman sings. I don't why he sang the song or he sang more from the Wizard of Oz (I'd love it if he did) but I've got this trapped in my head set on repeat. I thought I'd share. It's rather sweet and simple. There is something funny about the way John sings "wrothly of you" which I find rather induing. The Scarecrow was always my favorite and John has one of my favorite voices so it's a no brainer I love this song!

I bid and won a SONIC SCREWDRIVER from ebay! I couldn't help myself, I really couldn't. I got my brother to buy it (I gave him cash and he paid for it with his paypal since I don't have one).

It turned out to be almost $30 dollars US *cringes*. But since the exchange rate is still good it's not so bad paying for it US fends. It only cost about $15 dollars it was the $10 dollar shipping that killed it and me.

Still I can't help but very excited. The person who was selling it had 99.9 positive feedback so I'm hoping it'll all be good. I've only ever got one thing from ebay years ago which was under $5 and my brother got it for me. I'm sure it'll all be fine.

On other notes I got my teeth cleaned today:) The only thing left I have to get down on my teeth is get a temp filling replaced with a real filling in Step. Only it's been hurting instead of clamming down. I told them that today and the answer was I may need to get a root canal! DO NOT WANT! Oh that is the last thing I want. I'd rather get crown or bridge! I always picture a root canal being the worse thing (worse then pulling the tooth). It's still got time to clam down and I really hope it does. I take good care of my teeth, why do keep having to have pain and horrible things done to them?

Sarah Jane/Maria term for the win! I just watched another episode and I'm loving the SJ/Maria relationship more and more each week. They work so well together and have a real good mother/daughter thing going on.

Luke is such a cutie:) I really like the way they are handling Luke learning to be a normal teenage boy. It would have been really lame if he had suddenly be able to just like everyone else. He's got mad computer skills and is very smart but he's not your normal boy.

I'm so glad Kelsey is gone! She was horrible - just mean and annoying. Clyde is a much better replacement:) He's got a bit of a loud mouth but a kind heart and good friend. I think Luke needs a male friend his age too. Two girls as his best friend would have been alright but as he doesn't have any other males in his life that know "the secret" he needs someone help be just a boy.

I was looking for some stuff about series two online and I found these rumors possible spoilers. I've read some stuff today that makes me really worried they are going to get rid of Maria and her father:( DO NOT WANT! Maria the best ~~companion~~ term member in term SJ besides SJ herself. The Sarah Jane/Maria relationship is a large part of the heart of the show - it's key to the show! It's not like Doctor Who where you can and should change up the ~~companion~~ term member all the time. Doctor Who IMO still changes companion way too soon. We should get more then one to two years pre-conpanion. Don't start the "lets get someone new in" crap with SJA.

I'm off to find caps to make some SJA to express my love of the show. Does anyone know a good place to find some SJA icons? I find it hard to find them:(

Things I wish I could buy but can't because of disapproving mother and/or piece.

I really want the Doctor's SONIC SCREWDRIVER but I know my mom would think it's silly and waste of money.:( 15 dollars Canadian isn't bad is it? That works out to 7.48 pounds. It'll be the shipping that kills it. I could care less about the psychic paper that goes with it but it's the best looking screwdriver I could find. I've never seen any in stores.

I also really want the Fog Watch which is a lot more money (the shipping would be the killer).

My mom is really supportive of me buying Lord of the Rings stuff because she knows how much I love it. I own two letter opener swords, posters, calenders and the official One Ring but everything else is out of my piece range. I gotta work my way up to the big swords.

Does anyone own their very own Fog Watch or Sonic screwdriver? Are they just crap or somethign fun to look at and play with when no one is around.

I was wondering if anyone wanted to make a Martha themed fanmix with me for lifeonmartha competition for fanmixes. click this link for information I asked and two people are allowed to enter one fanmix.

I'd love to enter but I used of all my good Martha songs (and best cover artwork idea I've ever had) on my last Martha fanmix. Since I can't enter it since it's been posted before and I don't have enough new songs all on my own to make a new fanmix I was wondering if anyone out there would like to make one with me?

I'd like to do the actual putting of the artwork together myself (since it's all I'm good at) with the songs, artwork idea and theme to be decided and worked on by the two of us. I have a few songs and gerenal idea for a fanmix already but that all can be thrown out the door very easily.

Of course if no one is interested I'll just keep slowing working on it by myself and it just may end up being plain old fanmix and not one to be entered. :)

DW, TW and SJA - bad mothers of the all three series rant

The mother issues in Doctor Who and it's spin offs are really starting to annoy me more and more. The more episodes of all three shows the more I see RTD mother issues and the more it drives me nuts! After watching a episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures I was so upset I thought a good angry post would make me feel better and it has a bit.

Doctor Who -

Jackie Tyler - load mouth and slow witted a little at times, bit of a slapper but is very a loving mother. Dislikes the Doctor right away (with good reason). Once she found out who the Doctor was she turned him in for being a alien. She "came around" by series two and much better by series four.
Francine Jones - Bit of a snob and has family issues. Dislikes the Doctor right off the back with knowing him. Worked (unknowingly) against Martha and the Doctor for the Master. She "came around" after the year that never was and much better by series four.
Sylvia Noble - Another some what load mouth character slow witted character. A very nagging mother who doesn't show much belief in Donna (Turn Left) or to her face. The worse mother of all the shows. IMO hasn't "come around" to being a good/better mother by the end of series four. Others my not agree but her comments in Journey's End wasn't enough for me.

Torchwood -

Mary Cooper - from what I remember loving and supportive but sounds like a big handful and sometimes silly and stupid. See Gwen's comment to Rhy in "The Stolen Earth" "tell my mother to take her pills and go to bed" when Earth was moved. Gwen make her sound like a silly women in my mind.
Barry Williams - from what I remember she the "horrible mother in law" waiting to be.

The Sarah Jane Adventures -

Chrissie Jackson - rather selfish,immature and rather silly woman. Who while she loves Maria still comes off as being rather selfish. Also rather jealous of Sarah Jane and Maria's relationship with her maybe because they seem to have a better mother/daughter relationship.

Sarah Jane seems to be the only good mother figure from the get go. The mothers of Doctor Who usually turn out to be better at the end of their daughters time as companion and for knowing the Doctor. Sylivia is the only one who hasn't for filled her part of gorwing and becoming a better mother at the end of her child's time with the Doctor. Other may disagree with me on this one. It's just her few good comments in Journey's End don't make up her past treatment of Donna (specially not in light of Turn Left). I just didn't see enough to make me believe she will change. Maybe she'll change a little and feel guilt when she nags at Donna but I don't think there is going to be some huge turn around.

Sarah Jane on the other hand while being more then a little rude and impatient with Maria at the start from not wanting anyone to be involved in her affairs. She takes to being Luke's mother very well for just having the role put upon her rather suddenly. She also very easily takes Maria under her wing as both friend and mother figure. Now I haven't seen the full series but so far I'm rather impressed with her. Least RTD hasn't put his mother issues on Sarah Jane as of yet. The mother issues can also be seen in minor characters in episodes like Midnight.

I know I rant about this all the time in the Doctor Who fandom but till watching Eye of the Gorgon today (missed most second part sadly) that every series has it's mother issues. Maybe because I have loving mother and have great relationship with her I find this so upsetting. It really gets under my skin. I have extended family members who better mothers figures to me then some of the mothers on this show are to their children. If that makes sense? I'm glad we have Sarah Jane as good mother on the show so that children out there aren't scared by bad mother on the show.

I can only hope when Steven Moffat takes over that this will change. I don't know how much involved RTD will still have with The Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood after 2009.
